Principled Solution of Sexual Slavery Issue Urged by S. Korean Organization
Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- The Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps in south Korea issued a commentary to denounce the Japanese authorities for defying the recommendations of the UN Committee against Torture on holding renegotiations on the "agreement" over the sexual slaves for the Imperial Japanese Army.

The Committee in its report on May 12 recommended the modification of the "agreement" as it is insufficient in ensuring reinstatement and reparation for the victims, probe into truth and prevention of recurrence, the commentary said, adding:

The Japanese government refuted the recommendations, calling the "agreement" a "final and irreversible solution".

The "agreement" was a joint product of the Japanese government and the south Korean authorities without items concerning legal responsibility, official apology and reparation.

The commentary contended that the south Korean "government" should come out for the nullification of the "agreement", disbandment of the "foundation for reconciliation and recovery" and principled solution to the sexual slavery issue.
