U.S. Connived at Kwangju Massacre: American Mediaperson
Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- An American mediaperson had a briefing on the results of findings into the classified documents of the U.S. government about Kwangju Popular Uprising at the Kwangju city office of south Korea on May 24, according to the south Korean Yonhap News.

A report of the U.S. Defence Department dated May 27, 1980 contained misinformation that primary schoolers were forced to take part in the uprising and the uprising was manipulated by communists.

Dismissing it as distortion of the facts, he clarified that the then U.S. government concluded that the uprising posed threat to the security and interests of the U.S., even though it had relatively good knowledge of the incident.

Accordingly, the U.S. made a decision at a White House session on May 22, 1980 to let military force take part in putting down the uprising.

Another document said that even though the U.S. government knew that the puppet airborne commandoes got approval for opening fire into citizens, it connived at it.
