General Director of European Department of DPRK Foreign Ministry Meets His Czech Counterpart
Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Son Gyong, general director of European Department 2 of the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK on a visit to the Czech Republic, met Martin Klepetko, director for Asia and the Pacific of the Czech Foreign Ministry, on May 24 and discussed issues of developing bilateral relations and exchanged views on the situation of the Korean peninsula.

The DPRK side informed the Czech side of its stand to further the relations between the two countries and said that it is necessary to withdraw the U.S. nuclear threat and hostile policy toward the DPRK in order to defuse the tension on the Korean peninsula and ensure regional peace and stability.

The opposite side said that the Czech Republic with long-standing relations with the DPRK has deep interest in developing the relations between the two countries, expressing the will to further exchange and cooperation in education, culture and other fields depending on the de-escalation of the tension.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating situation on the Korean peninsula, it said that the Czech Republic would strive to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the Korean peninsula issue through dialogue.
