FM General Director Meets Spanish Members of House of Representatives

Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- Kim Son Gyong, general director of the European Department 2 of the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK, had a talk with Merithel Ramana, secretary of the Commission of Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of Spain, its spokesman Sanchez Amor and other members of the commission at the parliamentary building on May 29. Kim Son Gyong informed the Spanish side of the DPRK's stand on the relations between the two countries. She stressed that the U.S. hostile policy and nuclear threats to the DPRK should be removed, first of all, for the defusing of the tension on the Korean peninsula. Members of the House of Representatives of Spain expressed the will to respect the sovereignty of the DPRK and make efforts for promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in tourism, education, sports and other fields. They hoped that tension would be defused on the Korean peninsula and the problems be settled peacefully through dialogue. Meanwhile, Kim Son Gyong attended the round-table talks under the theme "Present situation on the Korean peninsula and prospect of DPRK-EU relations" held at the Elcano Royal Institute on May 30. Present there were Spanish personages of political, academic and business circles. Kim Son Gyong in her keynote speech explained the root cause of the tense situation on the Korean peninsula, the inevitability of the DPRK's access to nuclear weapons and the DPRK principled stand on the relations with EU. She gave answers to the questions raised. The participants expressed the will to make positive contributions to improving the relations between the DPRK and Spain and between the DPRK and EU. |
