The battle, commanded by President Kim Il Sung during the anti-Japanese armed struggle, was an event of great significance which gave a telling blow to the Japanese invaders, instilled into the Korean people the hope for national restoration that Korea was not dead but alive and the conviction that it could be liberated with the might of national independence without fail and thus aroused all the Korean people to the anti-Japanese struggle.

After the battle, the anti-Japanese national liberation movement entered a period of fresh upsurge centered on the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

Under the guidance of the President, the theatre of the anti-Japanese armed struggle were rapidly extended to the homeland with 26 secret bases and 60-odd temporary secret bases built and over 120 armed resistance organizations formed across the country, which enabled the accomplishment of historic cause of national liberation with the powerful internal forces.

Though 80 years have passed since the battle, the flames kindled by the President in Pochonbo serve as an eternal banner for the victory in the Korean revolution which encourages all the army and people of the DPRK in their grand advance to accomplish the socialist cause of Juche.
