Researches Underway for Agricultural Development
Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Academy of Agricultural Science in the DPRK have pushed ahead with scientific researches for the agricultural development of the country.

They concentrate their efforts on breeding high-yield strain of rice to be cultivated in the west coastal areas and a variety of rice with strong resistance to unfavorable climatic condition and blights.

Their researches also range over the home-production of ingredients essential to raw materials and nutritive liquid fertilizer for producing seed potato.

And they have introduced into co-op farms across the country fresh farming and cultivation methods like those of growing cold-bed rice seedlings favorable for farm mechanization and water-saving farming.

Efforts have been paid to supplying cooperative farms with various kinds of biological agrochemicals, including new agricultural antibiotic and germicide, and solving sci-tech problems arising in establishing a production process of biological agrochemicals at a factory under the Ministry of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, the scientists are carrying out the research into increasing the proportion of locally available raw and other materials necessary for greenhouse farming and improving the method of estimating grain output.
