Success Made in Artificial Production of Myongthae Fries
Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- A success was recently made in artificial breeding of myongthae (Alaska Pollack) fries in the DPRK.

Sci-tech problems arising in artificial taking of myongthae roes and breeding of fries were settled in a peculiar way.

In particular, the Ryonjin Fishery Station began home production of main food for myongthae fries by cultivating adhesive diatom, rotifers and shellfish larvae.

According to data available at the Ministry of Fisheries, hundreds of thousands myongthae fries have been stocked into the East Sea of Korea on several occasions from late April to early May.

In this regard, Hong Hyon Chol, deputy director of a department of the ministry, told KCNA that the biological indicators of recently stocked fries reached a high level and prospects of myongthae farming in the East Sea are splendid for its ideal oceanographic conditions.

Now, it has been dynamically pushed forward to lay a solid material and technical foundation in an area favorable for large-scale myongthae farming and adopt a system for cyclic production of myongthae fries.
