At the service, Mun Kyu Hyon, permanent representative of the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, recalled that the case of death of two schoolgirls by GIs triggered off all-people candlelight action.

But such historic tasks have not yet been carried out as probe into the truth behind the criminal case and revision of south Korea-U.S. "Status of Forces Agreement", he added

The present "government" must pave the way for peace and reunification by probing into the truth behind the murder case and realizing the revision of SOFA, he said.

Prior to the service, the participants marched from an entrance of a village to the spot of the incident to honor the memory of those two slain girls.

Then they had a memorial event at Kwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul.
