Rodong Sinmun Blasts U.S. for Pressuring S. Korean Authorities to Allow Deployment of THAAD

Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- The parliamentary undersecretary of the U.S. Department of State recently visited south Korea, where he expressed displeasure with the measure of reexamining the environmental influence on the area where THAAD are to be displayed, saying the foundation of the alliance may shake, and called for pressing ahead with the plan to deploy THAAD as soon as possible. Earlier, the acting assistant secretary in charge of disarmament verification of the U.S. State Department held a meeting with the south Korean authorities at which he pressed for the deployment of THAAD. In addition to the Department of State, the Department of Defense and the Congress and media of the U.S. and even Trump are coming out to threaten and blackmail the south Korean authorities to allow the deployment of THAAD. Commenting on the facts, Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says: This is nothing but a sinister intention to hold strategic hegemony in Asia-Pacific and turn the Korean peninsula into a nuclear war theatre. It means an intolerable insult to the south Korean people opposed to the deployment of THAAD. The U.S. is justifying the THAAD deployment, describing it as a measure to cope with "nuclear and missile threat from the north", but it is little short of impudent sophism to cover up its true colors as a burglar. The present situation clearly shows that the U.S. is the arch enemy of the Korean nation as it makes no scruple of bringing the whole of the Korean peninsula into a nuclear disaster and sacrificing the south Korean people to it. What is more intolerable is the attitude of the south Korean authorities as they are behaving foolishly under the pressure of the U.S. If they continue to repeat such disgraceful history, stuck in the mire of flunkeyism and submission, they would meet the same fate as the Park Geun Hye group cursed by the candlelight demonstrators. |
