S. Korean Authorities Should Promote Unity: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities should draw a lesson from the preceding conservative regimes' confrontation policy and promote the unity and cohesion of the nation, far from the conception of antagonizing the compatriots in the north. This is a unanimous demand of the present era and all Koreans, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in an article.

But, the present authorities of south Korea fail to discard the old conception of confrontation, reading the faces of the U.S. and the conservative forces, the article notes, and goes on:

Anti-DPRK sanctions and pressure are an open declaration for confrontation as they are a treacherous deed of following the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK.

Therefore, it is unreasonable for them to call for improved north-south relations, talking about sanctions and pressure accompanied by dialogue and contact, and this is deception and mockery of the compatriots.

If the south Korean authorities have true will to improve the north-south relations and open up broad avenue to peace and reunification, they should stop all hostilities they stage against the compatriots, in collusion with outside forces.

When they try to give impression that there is something different from the past by allowing visits of some non-governmental organizations while turning aside the settlement of key issues, no substantial progress will be made in the north-south relations.

What the DPRK demands is that the north and the south open a new phase of national reconciliation and unity, recognizing each other as partner of reunification and joining their hands.

If the south Korean authorities continue to go for confrontation, refusing to accept this will and intention, we will make our own option.

The confrontation of social systems leads to physical conflict in the end. If the south Korean authorities disregard our stand and persist in the confrontation of social systems, we will have no other way but to go for reunification by non-peaceful means.

They should clearly understand this.
