Unlike the functional cosmetics with the effects of skin protection or prevention of aging, the newly-developed cosmetics are highly efficacious for skin diseases like acne.

Trial products are on sale at shops in Pyongyang, gaining popularity. Among them are an acne-treatment cream, acne-prevention lotion and mosquito repellent perfume.

In this regard, Pak Un Chol, a doctor at the Skin-disease Preventive Centre under the Ministry of Public Health, told KCNA:

There are many kinds of functional cosmetics made of extracts of natural herbs like Kaesong Koryo Insam in the country.

But the medicinal cosmetics contain only effective ingredients which were extracted from insam, clove, turmeric, Amur cork and other Koryo medicinal herbs and went through separation and refining processes for higher curative value.

Now the factory is producing over ten kinds of medicinal cosmetics.
