Nationwide Campaign for Overcoming Drought Continues in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Every possible effort is being concentrated on the campaign to prevent drought damage in the agricultural field, a major thrust in the building of an economic giant.

As of now, myriads hectares of croplands have been watered by officials and working people of the agricultural field and volunteers.

The Ministry of Agriculture is taking necessary measures to inform cooperative farms of technical requirements for watering and necessary nutrients and growth promoters through local network.

South Hwanghae Province set in good condition more than 16 000 wells, water holes and tube wells to secure water resources in a short span of time and operates over 2 800 water pumps and sprinklers at full capacity.

Ongjin County is tapping all water-supply vehicles and means to watering.

Pyoksong, Sinwon and Unryul counties built pumping stations near water sources and are pushing ahead with extending waterways.

The same is true of Hwangju, Jangphung and Sungho counties in North Hwanghae Province.

Agricultural workers in North and South Phyongan provinces, together with volunteers, are watering over 1 000 hectares of croplands every day.

Meanwhile, ministries and national institutions help farmers with their small-size water pumps, water carriers and sprayers.
