Japanese Politician's Anti-DPRK Remarks under Fire
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- An unflinching protest is unabated by the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and across Japan against national chauvinist words made by Ishikawa Prefectural Governor Masanori on June 21 of totally denying the sovereignty of the DPRK and the right to existence of the Korean people.

Officials of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee and various headquarters and organizations and enterprises of Chongryon made protest telephones and sent protest faxes to the governor all at once on June 22 and thousands of telephones, faxes and e-mails were thrust to the prefectural office by June 28.

They denounced the criminal nature and severity of his words and demanded an immediate apology.

The Japan Committee for the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, the Japan-Korea Society for Scientific and Educational Interchange and other Japan-DPRK friendship organizations issued protest statements, and more than 30 social organizations in different areas of Japan sent protest letters to the governor.

Several civic organizations decided to conduct a protest rally as a joint action.
