Francis F. Lyimo, chairman of the Tanzanian National Coordinating Committee of the Juche Idea Study Groups, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

The committee set a remembrance period from June 24 and July 8 and decided to organize political and cultural events praising the President's revolutionary career and exploits in the period.
