Abrogation of S. Korea-U.S. SOFA Demanded

Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday carries an article in demand of abrogation of the humiliating and unequal south Korea-U.S. "Status of Forces Agreement" (SOFA) on the lapse of 51 years since its signing. The SOFA, which was cooked up by the U.S. with south Korean "yusin" dictator on July 9, 1966, is a modern slavery agreement legalizing the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces' presence in south Korea and granting them unlimited privileges, the article says, and goes on: The humiliating nature of the SOFA has been proved through 51-year long history. Under the patronage of SOFA the U.S. imperialist aggressors are committing hideous crimes such as violence, plunder, murder and rape in south Korea almost every day. Murder of Yun Kum I, driving armored car over middle schoolgirls to death and other murders by the U.S. troops were the cruelest and most brutal ones baffling human imagination. However, the criminals of the U.S. forces escaped punishment and the puppet ruling quarters of south Korea kept mum about the incidents. What is more serious is that the present ruling forces of south Korea representing "mindset of the candlelight demonstrators" are openly revealing the pro-U.S. servile attitude, calling for strengthening the "alliance" with the U.S. The reality shows that the dignity and sovereignty of south Korean people cannot but be violated and they should suffer disasters under any "government" as long as the U.S. colonial system exists in south Korea. The disgraceful history of servility of south Korea should not last any longer and the SOFA hurting the dignity and interests of the nation should be abrogated at once. |
