Rodong Sinmun Slams U.S. and S. Korean Authorities for Pushing Situation on Korean Peninsula to Brink of War

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and the south Korean authorities groundlessly hurt the DPRK's nuclear deterrent for self-defense making rapid progress and steadily introduce nuclear war equipment under the pretext of it, pushing the situation to the brink of a war, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in an article. It goes on: The U.S. is chiefly to blame for spawning the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula by introducing nuclear weapons into south Korea. The DPRK's nuclear deterrent for self-defense serves as a treasured sword for justice firmly guaranteeing the nation's sovereignty and right to existence in defiance of the increased nuclear threat of the U.S. Gone are days never to return when the U.S. could flout the destiny of the Korean nation and trample down peace on the Korean peninsula as it pleased through its unilateral nuclear threat and blackmail. If a war breaks out on the peninsula, such land as the U.S. can never be safe. The DPRK is ready for peaceful or non-peaceful means, but it does not want the country to suffer a war and the whole nation to meet the disaster of a war again. Therefore, it strives hard to exercise utmost patience for peaceful reunification. This being a hard reality, if the south Korean authorities misjudge the DPRK's will to achieve peace and reunification and steadily rush headlong into criminal moves to hurt the latter's sovereignty and right to existence in collusion with outside forces, they will be held wholly accountable for all the ensuing consequences. The mission of the DPRK's nuclear deterrent for self-defence remains unchanged until the U.S. imperialist aggressors withdraw from south Korea, taking all lethal weapons with them, and a danger of a nuclear war on the peninsula is brought to a definite end. |
