Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- Meetings for remembering President Kim Il Sung took place in Spain, Denmark, the UK, Serbia, Uganda, Peru and Mexico from July 4 to 8 on the 23rd anniversary of his demise.

Figures of the Communist Party of the People of Spain and the Madrid Group for the Study of the Juche Idea praised the President as the pioneer of the era of independence who indicated the way for mankind to follow and as the world's elder statesman who led the cause of global independence, holding aloft the banner of the cause of independence against imperialism all his life.

The chairman of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association said that Kim Il Sung defeated the U.S. and Japan imperialism in one generation, built the DPRK into the socialist county independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in defence and contributed to achieving national reunification and the human cause of independence.

The chairman of the Ugandan National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea said that the most brilliant feat among the ones the President performed was that he fathered the immortal Juche idea, adding that the feats he performed still have great impact on the struggle of the people in African countries for building a new society.

The secretary general of the Peruvian-Korean Institute of Culture and Friendship, the chairman of the Peruvian Association for the Study of Revolutionary Activities of Comrade Kim Jong Suk and the president of the Mexican Friend Association for Memory of President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il stressed that the DPRK, the country of single-minded unity where all the people are firmly united around the Party and the leader, is the military power which the U.S. fear most and this great country could emerge in the world thanks to Kim Il Sung.

They said that though Kim Il Sung passed away, his sacred august name will always be remembered by all people.
