Campaign for Creating Dense Pine-nut Tree Forests
Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- The Academy of Forest Science under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection in the DPRK recently completed the technology for creating dense forest of high-yielding pine-nut trees and pushes ahead with its introduction into different parts of the country.

The new technology advances the harvest by eight or ten years with higher yield per hectare in dense forests, as compared with forests of pine-nut trees grown from seeds.

It has been well proved by a dense high-yielding pine-nut tree forest created in a mountainous area of Rinsan County, North Hwanghae Province.

Pint-nut tree forests in different mountainous areas, including Yonthan, Phyongsan, Sohung and Junghwa counties of North Hwanghae Province, Unsan County of North Phyongan Province, Wonsan City of Kangwon Province and Kangso District of Nampho City, have been turned into those of high-yielding pine-nut trees by means of bud-grafting, producing 1.5 times more pine nuts than before.

Meanwhile, with the establishment of bases for cultivating and supplying pine-nut saplings in large quantities in ten-odd cities and counties, it has been pushed forward to turn the existing pine-nut tree forests into dense forests of high-yielding pine-nut trees in Songwon County of Jagang Province and other parts of the country.
