Movement for Wining Title of Minchong Created in Wartime
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- With the approach of the 64th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (July 27, 1953), the people in the DPRK are recollecting the heroic feats performed by the Korean young people in defending the country from the armed invasion of the U.S. imperialists.

Typical of their feats is the movement for wining the title of Minchong (the acronym of the Democratic Youth League in Korean).

In the wartime, President Kim Il Sung called for waging the movement for wining the title of Minchong, a mass movement aimed at killing many more enemies by caring for weaponry and increasing their power.

True to his instruction, Jo Kun Sil, a soldier of the Korean People's Army (KPA), made a firm determination to distinguish himself on the field of battle at a meeting of Minchong members of his company held in April Juche 40 (1951) with the battle on Height 902.4 ahead.

Though he was seriously wounded in his arms and legs at the battle, he pressed the trigger of his heavy machine gun with his jaw to the last moments of his life to sweep away enemies.

In high praise of his heroic feat, Kim Il Sung saw to it that the title of the DPRK hero was awarded to him and the title of Minchong to his heavy machine gun No. 236.

In the period of the war, a number of guns, tanks, airplanes, warships and trucks were honored with the title of Minchong.

Indeed, the movement encouraged servicepersons to perform heroic feats and made a great contribution to strengthening the combat capability of the KPA units during the war.
