Cage-net Fish Farming Active in Jagang Province of DPRK
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Jagang Province of the DPRK is taking the lead in cage-net fish farming, true to the Workers' Party of Korea's policy on bettering the citizen's diet by breeding fishes on a large scale across the country.

Now, the province encourages all its cities and counties to model cage-net fish farms after those built in dams of cascade power stations along the Chongchon River and some cities and counties, including Kanggye City.

On the basis of detailed investigation into different areas of the Amnok River, the province has set up mobile cage-net fish farms in its deep waters with slow current.

In case of Usi County alone, it built a cage-net fish farm covering an area of 150 square meters in the river and is breeding various species of fishes, including young perches.

Jasong and Wiwon counties also set up mobile cage-net fish farms in eleven sites and have introduced scientific breeding method.

Now, cage-net fish farms built along the River Amnok teem with perch, Ryongjong fish, carp, mandarin fish, catfish and other tasty and highly productive fishes.
