Pyongyang, August 17 (KCNA) -- The August 15 all-people rally for withdrawal of THAAD! stop to south Korea-U.S. joint military exercises and scraping of the agreement on the sexual slavery issue! was held at Seoul Square on August 15 under the sponsorship of the "committee for promoting the Aug. 15 all-people peace action to retake the sovereignty and realize the peace on the Korean peninsula," according to the south Korean Internet newspaper Tongil News. It comprises more than 200 civic organizations such as the Confederation of Trade Unions and the Solidarity for Progress. More than 10,000 people of all strata including workers, farmers, the poor, women, youth and students were present at the rally. At the rally, the speakers urged an immediate stop to the Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military drills which the U.S. and the south Korean authorities are trying to conduct from August 21. They demanded the U.S. abandon the hostile policy toward the DPRK and come out for dialogue and negotiations with it for normalizing relations with it and building a peace-keeping mechanism. They denounced the present "government" for pushing forward the deployment of THAAD, the U.S. war monster, despite the opposition from various circles, and asserted that the society the candle light holders wanted was the one where the people are masters and the sovereignty is guaranteed, not the society pursued by the Park Geun Hye group of evils, subservient to the U.S. After the rally, they marched in human-chains towards Kwanghwamun where the U.S. and Japanese embassies are situated upholding 10,000 red umbrellas depicting candlelight. |
