WPC Slams UNSC's "Sanctions Resolution" against DPRK
Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- The World Peace Council (WPC) on Aug. 9 made public a statement in denunciation of the UNSC "sanctions resolutions" against the DPRK.

Expressing serious concern over the adoption of "sanctions resolution" 2371, the statement said:

The Korean people have the right to determine their own destiny and future for themselves.

We condemn the U.S. and its allied forces for their moves to violate the DPRK's sovereignty.

We also slam the military drills staged by the U.S., Japan and south Korea and the U.S. military presence in south Korea.

The U.S. deployment of THAAD in south Korea will only escalate the regional tensions.

The Korean Armistice Agreement should be replaced by a peace accord.

We oppose the said sanctions and pain to be suffered by the Korean people and, in fact, the sanctions are a form of invasion and a prelude to military interference. But neither sanctions nor threat will work on the DPRK.

The U.S. is the country that used A-bombs for the first time in the world and, it is still now professing the theory of preemptive nuclear attack.

We extend full support to the Korean people in the struggle to defend the country's sovereignty from the vicious moves of the imperialists and ensure the regional peace and their country's independent reunification.

The UN should respect and follow the principles of the Chapter.
