In the 1990s, the U.S. and its servile forces remained persistent in their military moves to stamp out the DPRK, which is unhesitatingly advancing along the road of independence and socialism, and put pressure upon it in all fields including politics, economy, ideology, culture and diplomacy.

But, the DPRK has emerged as a military giant, thanks to the steadfast will and energetic guidance of Kim Jong Il to strengthen the national defense capabilities at any cost.

Based on its own military muscle, the DPRK has resolutely smashed the ever-growing military oppression and moves of aggression perpetrated by the U.S. and its servile forces.

After the appearance of the Bush administration, the U.S. termed the DPRK an "axis of evil" and listed it as one of targets for preemptive nuclear attack, while escalating nuclear war drills.

Under these circumstances, Kim Jong Il made a strategic bold decision to counter the enemy's nuke with nuke.

The DPRK government took a measure to withdraw from the Non-proliferation Treaty on January 10, Juche 92 (2003). Later, it conducted the first underground nuclear test in October 2006 and the second in May 2009.

If the DPRK was downed by nuclear threats of the U.S., the tragedies of Iraq and Libya would have been repeated on the Korean Peninsula.

Indeed, it is the greatest feats of leader Kim Jong Il that built a self-defensive military force with the nuclear deterrent as its mainstay.
