Leader Kim Jong Il established it on Aug. 27, Juche76 (1987) and gave field guidance to various units under the bureau, leading it to make tangible contributions to improving the people's standard of living.

The bureau has performed feats, remaining loyal to the light industry policy and people-loving politics of the Party for three decades.

The officials and employees of the bureau built dozens of commercial and catering establishments and mass-produced popular and famous goods, thus contributing to implementing the Party's intention to provide the people with tasty and nutritious foodstuffs.

A meeting took place on Saturday.

Attending it were An Jong Su, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials and employees of the bureau.
