DPRK's Flag
Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- With the approach of the 69th founding anniversary of the DPRK (September 9), the Korean people are looking back upon the days when the national flag was produced under the meticulous guidance of President Kim Il Sung, the founder of socialist Korea.

In the days of the nation building, the President instructed in detail the ideological contents to be reflected in the flag, and the ways of doing so.

Red color of the flag symbolizes blood shed by the anti-Japanese forerunners and other Korean patriots and invincible might of the people firmly united around the Republic.

White color shows that the Korean people are a homogeneous nation that has lived with the same lineage, language and culture in one territory. And blue color represents lively figures of working people striving to build a new democratic society and the spirit of the Korean people struggling for the peace and progress of the world.

A decision on the enforcement of the DPRK constitution was adopted by consensus at the Fifth Session of the People's Assembly of North Korea held on July 10, Juche 37 (1948) in the presence of the President.

That day the DPRK's flag was hoisted amid the solemn playing of the national anthem.

The flag of the DPRK will fly high in the sky forever thanks to respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
