Pyongyang University of Fine Arts Marks 70th Anniversary
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang University of Fine Arts marked its 70th founding anniversary.

President Kim Il Sung, who provided the tradition of revolutionary cultural construction in the flames of the great anti-Japanese war, made sure that Pyongyang college of fine arts (at that time), the first training center of artists in the country, was established on Sep. 10, Juche 36 (1947), brightly indicated the mission, tasks, development and orientation of the college and guided the art pieces created by the teachers and students several times.

Leader Kim Jong Il set forth the great program for the Juche-oriented education of fine arts, laid firm foundations for training many talented reserve artists and led every aspect of the work to radically improve the quality of education in fine arts and effect a turn in the production of art pieces.

The 70 years-long history of the university reflects the exploits it performed in training a large number of reserves for competent artists and bringing the flowers of Juche fine arts into full bloom, thanks to the outstanding ideology of art education by the great leaders and their noble love for posterity and the future.

A meeting was held on Sunday.

It was attended by Kim Ki Nam, vice-chairman of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, Minister of Culture Pak Chun Nam, officials concerned, teaching staff and students of the university.
