Taekwon-Do History Museum

Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- There is the Taekwon-Do history museum in the Taekwon-Do Holy House. Paek Mi Yong, a lecturer of the museum, told KCNA: The museum consists of three rooms. On display at the museum are data on the national martial arts proud of a 5,000-year-long history and tradition. Room No. 1 shows the development of martial arts with Pyongyang as its center from the period of Tangun Korea to the Feudal Joson Dynasty on the basis of historical facts. Data on Subakhui (a Korean style of martial art using only the hands) on the mural painting of the mausoleum of Kogukwon (A.D. 331-371), the king of Koguryo, and data on Taekwon-do patterns named after famous patriotic generals, help visitors know how the national martial arts were encouraged and given priority. Displayed at Room No. 2 are photos showing the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un to adhere to and develop national martial arts, and cups and medals DPRK's Taekwon-do players bagged at international games. There are Room No. 3 data on the organization and development of the International Taekwon-do Federation, and a world map showing the figures of countries and people learning Taekwon-do. The DPRK's Taekwon-do instructors and demonstration groups have trained Taekwon-do at over 90 countries and regions. There are also portraits of famous Taekwon-do players in the hall of the museum. |
