Rodong Sinmun Urges S. Korean Authorities to Draw Lesson from Failed "North Policy"
Pyongyang, September 18 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities' "north policy" is now on the verge of going totally bankrupt in the face of strong denunciation and censure by the public at home and abroad, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in an article.

The "north policy" is extremely contradictory and completely unrealizable as its keynote is "simultaneous realization of dialogue and pressure", the article notes, and goes on:

The present south Korean authorities clamored for "simultaneous realization of dialogue" and north-south relations while dancing to the tunes of the U.S. and the conservative forces' confrontation frenzy. This is an intolerable mockery and challenge to the DPRK and all Koreans including the candlelight demonstrators in south Korea.

It is quite natural that they are now hit hard from all sides for their preposterous "north policy".

They should come to their senses, though belatedly, and draw a due lesson from their miserable position.

When reading face of the U.S., which does not want the reconciliation and unity of the Korean nation, and the conservative group persistently opposed to the improved north-south relations, the south Korean authorities can neither be supported by the public nor get rid of the present crisis.

The mindset of the candlelight demonstrators in south Korea demands that the authorities hold hands with the fellow countrymen and opt for the path of peace and reunification from the stand of national independence, not getting hell-bent on the anti-DPRK racket of sanctions and pressure with outsiders and the conservatives.

The south Korean authorities should face up to the trend of the times and make a reasonable option.
