Release of Prisoners of Conscience Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The "Joint Action for Release of Prisoners of Conscience, Pardon and Reinstatement against Suppression under Pretence of Public Security" grouping civic and social organizations held a press conference outside the Seoul Detention House on Sep. 18, urging the release of all the prisoners of conscience, according to the south Korean newspaper Nodong and Segye.

Speakers there said prisoners of conscience are now detained for the mere reasons that they wished national reunification, took part in the trade union activities and they were members of the Unified Progressive Party.

They declared that they would launch struggle for the release of all the prisoners of conscience outside prisons and detention houses in all parts of south Korea for five days with the press conference as its start.
