Born into a poor tenant's family in Pyokdong County, North Phyongan Province, Kim Tan Ok experienced sorrow as a member of the stateless nation, being subject to all sorts of humiliation and contempt.

She could lead a genuine life only when President Kim Il Sung liberated the country, and in order to live up to the benevolence of the Workers' Party of Korea, she brought up her children to be good and sent them to the outposts of national defense and difficult and labor consuming fields.

Saying that thanks to the most advantageous socialist system of our country she can enjoy longevity, she always asks her descendants to do more good things for the grateful country.
