S. Korea: Release of Prisoners of Conscience Demanded
Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions reportedly held a press conference outside the general building of the "government" in Kwachon City, Kyonggi Province on September 26, demanding the release of prisoners of conscience.

The organization said in a press release that it is duty of the present "government" to set free the prisoners of conscience such as the chairman of the Confederation.

It charged that though a new "government" emerged after the candlelight demonstrations, but a large number of prisoners of conscience are still behind bars.

The press release said that the workers are a leading part of the candlelight demonstrations as they fought for the rights of all the workers and their right to existence, not for private interests.
