Leading newspapers of the DPRK Sunday in editorials stress this on the 20th anniversary of his election as general secretary of the WPK.

It is a special event of weighty significance in the development of the WPK and the revolution that he was elected as WPK general secretary by the unanimous will and desire of all party members, servicepersons and people on Oct. 8, Juche 86 (1997), Rodong Sinmun says, adding:

Clearly recorded in the proud course of the WPK which has emerged victorious along its unique road of development, setting the example of the times in building a revolutionary party and also in the praiseworthy road in which it ushered in the great heyday in all fields of the revolution and construction under the uplifted banner of modeling the whole society on Kimilsungism are the distinguished leadership exploits of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il.

Today our Party is opening up the greatest heyday of its development with his ideology and exploits as a cornerstone.

The WPK is conducting the party building and activities as guided by Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, regarding it as its unique guiding ideology and has firm center of the leadership and unity and the whole party shares the same thinking and breath and step with the leader. This is the true picture of the WPK.

Only victory and glory are in store for the WPK which opens up a new great era of prosperity by relying on the invincible revolutionary leadership and the Juche-based leadership mode reflective of the undying party building exploits of the leader.
