He said that the 70 years covered by the union is the history recorded with the leadership and love of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and the course of victory reflective of patriotic loyalty and devotion of Korean women in Japan.

He extended thanks to elders of the Korean women's movement in Japan, women activists, members of mothers' societies and all other Korean women in Japan who devoted their all to cultivating the flower garden of patriotism and wonderfully bringing up the successors to the patriotic cause of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) while sharing intention and mind with the socialist country.

The union is the largest mass organization of Chongryon representative of the rights and interests of all the Korean women in Japan and they are a powerful patriotic force pushing one of the two wheels of the chariot of the movement of Koreans in Japan, he said.

The officials and women of the union should firmly defend and glorify long the ideology of the peerlessly great persons of Mt Paektu on the Juche-oriented overseas Korean women's movement and their exploits and dynamically advance the movement of Korean women in Japan along the orbit of Juche indicated by them, he stressed.

Though they are in alien land, the Korean women in Japan should bear in mind Kim Jong Il's patriotism, make tangible contributions to achieving the independent reunification of the country and building a socialist powerful nation and further strengthen the bonds of friendship with the world progressive women including the Japanese women valuing justice and truth, he pointed out.

He said that he would devote his kindred feelings to strengthening the women's union and to ensuring the dignity and happiness of the Korean women in Japan with the same trust and loving care with which President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il valued and put forward the union.
