The DPRK delegate said this in a speech at the First Committee of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly on October 16.

Even after over 70 years since the UN's foundation peace and stability still remain as its main theme but we are witnessing the building of a world without nuclear weapons not in a close distance but a reality far from it, he said, and continued:

A nuclear arms race reminiscent of the Cold War era is reviving. The U.S. deploys its strategic assets mounted with nuclear weapons in various regions and poses blatant nuclear threats to sovereign states.

The U.S. and other nuclear weapons states and NATO, etc. took a negative approach to the NBT adopted at the UN in July last and even boycotted the meeting on the treaty.

The DPRK consistently supports the total elimination of nuclear weapons and the efforts for denuclearization of the entire world. However as long as the U.S. who constantly threatens and blackmails the DPRK with nuclear weapons rejects the NBT the DPRK is not in a position to accede to the treaty.

No any other country in the world has been subjected to such an extreme and direct nuclear threat from the U.S. for such a long time and experienced a nuclear war exercise in front of its own gate which is essentially most vicious and brutal, like the DPRK.
