Speakers said that millions of children are suffering pneumonia and diarrhea worldwide every year, noting that handwashing with soap emerges as an urgent issue for families as well as child care centre and education, public health and public catering centres.

They underlined the need for everyone, children in particular, to know well about the method of handwashing and make it part of their life and habit.

At the end of the briefing on the importance of handwashing, the participants watched schoolchildren's methods of handwashing and enjoyed an art performance given by them.

Prior to this event, a gravity-fed water supply establishment, which was built in Kyongwon County with cooperation of UNICEF, began its functioning with due ceremony on the occasion.
