UN Reform Is Essential Requirement: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Wednesday dedicates an article to the UN Day.

The international situation today goes quite contrary to the purport of the UN, the article says, and goes on:

It is important for the UN Security Council to ensure impartiality in its activities in order to fulfill its responsibility for international peace and security. But the principle of respect for sovereignty, equality and non-interference in the internal affairs is openly ignored in the UNSC and illegitimate "resolutions" justifying the U.S. domination policy are railroaded.

The UNSC is following the U.S. logic and sophism that points should be made on depending on who does it, not what is being discussed, and legality and illegality should be made depending on the differences in social systems.

It is essential to reform the UN at an early date in order to establish a new and fair international order after clearing the planet of the looming danger of a war.

It is quite natural for the UN General Assembly to look after the UN activities as a whole and it should be invested with the power to finally examine the resolutions of the UNSC on sanctions and use of force, in particular, which have serious impacts on peace and security.

The reform of the UNSC, a key point of UN reform, is an urgent matter.

The reform of the UNSC should be carried out on the principle of fully guaranteeing the impartiality and objectivity of activities and fully providing the representation of developing countries.

As a full-fledged UN member nation the DPRK will as ever make sincere efforts to ensure world peace and security and develop friendly relations with all the countries respecting its sovereignty.
