It was held on the theme of "Centenary of the great October Socialist Revolution: ideal of communist movement and intensified struggle for peace and socialism against imperialists' war," bringing together more than 100 delegations and 300-odd delegates of the said parties including a delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

At the end of an opening address, a letter sent to the meeting by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, was conveyed at the meeting.

Gennadi Zhuganov, chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, made a congratulatory speech.

Kim Su Gil, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and chairman of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, who is heading the WPK delegation made a speech at the meeting.

There were also speeches by heads of foreign delegations.

Speakers referred to the historical significance of the October Socialist Revolution, lessons drawn from frustration of socialism in the former Soviet Union and east European countries and experience gained by some countries and regions through the struggle for socialist construction and socio-political justice.

They underscored the need to defend the cause of socialism and victoriously advance it and boost unity and solidarity among communist and workers' parties worldwide so as to cope with the undisguised reactionary offensive of the imperialists.

They sharply censured the U.S. invasion and interference in the DPRK and expressed support and solidarity to the heroic struggle of the WPK and the Korean people bravely standing up to the extreme sanctions of the U.S.

A solidarity statement to the just cause of the WPK and the Korean people was adopted at the meeting.

"Appeal of the 19th international meeting of the communist parties and workers' parties" was adopted as the final document at the meeting.

The appeal expressed the support for Korea's peaceful reunification, opposing the U.S. interference in the issue of the Korean peninsula.

It called for stepping up the joint action to defend and victoriously advance socialism and expanding anti-imperialist front to vigorously wage an action for peace against the invasion by imperialists on the occasion of the centenary of the October Socialist Revolution.
