Kimchi is made of vegetables or edible herbs, seasonings, fishes, meat and fruit. Kimchi has a fresh taste and peculiar aroma and is high in nutritive and pharmacological value, thus gaining popularity in the world.

The custom of making kimchi and its development, different varieties of kimchi and their features and relics related to kimchi are on display at the Korean Folklore Museum to make the visitors promote an understanding of kimchi.

The Korean custom of making kimchi was registered as national intangible cultural heritage and world intangible cultural heritage.
