|
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- There are many precious cultural heritages in Mt Kumgang, one of the famous mountains of Korea. Among them is Phyohun Temple, one of the four Buddhist temples in the mountain. The temple, built in 670, is located at the entry to Manphok Ravine. At that time, it was called Sinrim Temple, but after three years, it was renamed Phyohun Temple. The existing temple was rebuilt in the latter part of the feudal Joson Dynasty. The Panyabo Hall, a central building with a hip-saddle roof and double eaves, shows well the outstanding architecture of Korean ancestors. It is 14.09 meters in front and 9.4 meters in the flank. Phyohun Temple consists of several buildings with hip-saddle roofs and gabled roofs from south to north. It is preserved well as the precious historical cultural heritage thanks to the culture conservation policy of the Workers' Party of Korea. |
