Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- The International Association of Democratic Lawyers, the Asia-Pacific Jurists Association and lawyers organizations in the U.S., Japan and south Korea on Nov. 7 adopted a joint statement calling for putting an end to the U.S. military threat and achieving the lasting peace in the Korean peninsula. The statement charged that U.S. President Trump threatened to "totally destroy" the DPRK at the UN General Assembly in September and made a mockery of the resolution of the world people who created the UN in 1945. The U.S. has kept tens of thousands of its troops in south Korea, failing to abide by the 1953 Armistice Agreement, it pointed out. It has deployed nuclear weapons in south Korea and sold arms worth billions of US dollars each year, and is now encouraging the deployment of THAAD, the statement noted, adding: The lasting peace accord is crucial to the Korean peninsula. The authorities of the U.S., Japan and south Korea must stop using military bases in south Korea and Japan, which escalates the tensions in the peninsula and poses a threat to the DPRK, and deploying THAAD and strategic bombers, nuclear subs and other strategic assets of the U.S. The statement urged the U.S. to stop at once the south Korea-U.S. joint military exercises for threatening the DPRK through a preemptive attack and deploying U.S. strategic weapons and the military operation scenario based on "decapitation operation" targeting the DPRK supreme leadership. It stressed that the international community should life up the voice of opposition to the U.S. getting hell-bent on military provocations and drills while keeping military bases in the Asia-Pacific region and other parts of the world. |
