Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- The 35th national meeting of the movement for supporting Korea's reunification was held in Kyoto of Japan on Nov. 4. Attending it were Chairman Fumihiro Himori and members of the Japan Committee for the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, and members of the executive committee for the national meeting and representatives of the organizations for solidarity with the Korean people in different parts of Japan. Present on invitation were Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, and its other officials and Koreans in Japan. Congratulatory speeches were made and a message of greetings from the Korean Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries read out at the meeting. Kenji Mizutani, general secretary of the Japan Committee for the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, made a keynote report. The reporter noted that the situation of the Korean peninsula is getting worse day by day due to the U.S. and the Japanese authorities toeing the U.S. line. Saying it is the U.S. that has posed a threat to the DPRK as it has ratcheted up the anti-DPRK sanctions and pressure, persistently refusing to sign a peace accord with the DPRK, he condemned the Japanese authorities for following the U.S. Several personages made speeches calling for solidarity with the people of the DPRK in their efforts to achieve lasting peace on the peninsula and its reunification. The meeting adopted an appeal which assails all sorts of military games against the DPRK and the UNSC "sanctions resolutions" against it and urges vigorous activities for the conclusion of a peace accord between the DPRK and the U.S. and the normalization of the DPRK-Japan diplomatic relations. |
