Struggle for Punishment of Lee Myung Bak Unabated in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- An anti-Lee Myung Bak struggle is gaining momentum in south Korea, according to news reports from Seoul. Recent disclosure of the crimes committed by Lee Myung Bak included the building up of public opinion through the mobilization of military organs, interference in the "presidential" election and squandering huge money collected from the people as taxes under the pretext of voluntary diplomacy and the illegal operation of a company. The ruling Democratic Party and organizations of various social standings branded this as a political scandal as serious as the hideous political scandal of Park Geun Hye. Much upset by the spearhead of social movement for the removal of evils being directed to them, the Lee Myung Bak group are protesting it as "political retaliation" and attempting to rally the conservative forces. Such attempt has greatly enraged the south Koreans from all walks of life. The candlelight demonstration and rally for the earlier detention of Lee Myung Bak that began in the area near the house of the traitor by the "Commando for Seizing MB" and the Headquarters of All-People Action to Punish Lee Myung Bak and other organizations have stretched into several days and those from different parts of south Korea joined them. At the rally representatives of various organizations stressed that without detention of Lee Myung Bak, there can never be the removal of evils. They evinced their pledge not to stop struggle until Lee is put under custody. A lawmaker from the ruling party involving in the candlelight demonstration disclosed that Lee Myung Bak squandered 100 trillion won through corruption, typically four-river improvement project and voluntary diplomacy, during his seizure of office. An internet signature campaign of citizens began on Nov. 10, urging the authorities to stop Lee Myung Bak's foreign trip. The members of the "Commando for Seizing MB" held a demonstration at Inchon Airport to protest Lee's foreign trip. Voices denouncing Lee are also heard from politicians from ruling and opposition parties. The south Korean media including Yonhap News reported it is predicted that Lee Myung Bak will be summoned for investigation within this year. |
