Reagents for Botanical Tissue Culture Developed in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 21 (KCNA) -- Purine compound and auxin, reagents for botanical tissue culture, are expected to be widely introduced into the forest management of the DPRK.

Forestry management stations in Anju City, Phyongwon County and other parts of South Phyongan Province are gaining much economic benefit from the introduction of those reagents which help strengthening the functions of growth substances.

The reagents were developed by a research group of Sukchon University of Agriculture with locally available raw materials.

They promote the root growth of saplings, germination rate of seeds and growth rate of saplings and thus ensure the rooting rate at over 96 percent.

According to Yun Hyok Chol, vice-rector of the university, the reagents make it possible to multiply plants and crops in an industrial way.
