Felix Jesus Velasquez Castillo, general coordinator of the Federal Secretariat of the United Left Party, and Omar Lopez, chairman of the Venezuelan National Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, were elected co-chairmen of the remembrance committee which involves the representatives of various political parties, bodies and institutions including the Motherland Party for All and the Venezuela-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association.

The committee decided to hold political and cultural events in praise of the revolutionary career and immortal feats of Kim Jong Il.
