S. Korean Labor Movement Organizations Stage Massive Protest
Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the construction trade union under it reportedly staged a large-scale protest in Seoul on Nov. 28.

The Confederation held an emergency rally against the retrogressive revision of the "Labor Standards Act".

The speakers said they can never tolerate the Act as it goes quite contrary to the chief executive's commitment to cutting down working hours, and causes overwork and labor disaster.

Special articles lead to over-fatigue and death of workers, they said, demanding society respect workers.

The rally of the Confederation was followed by massive protest by the construction trade union.

More than 20,000 unionists held a demonstration from Ad Tower in Youido to the "National Assembly" building where the sit-in of workers was under way.

At a rally for pledging general strike, the speakers expressed indignation at the "NA" for evading the passage of the "draft revision of the law on construction workers".

At a joint press conference of the Confederation of Trade Unions, the Federation of Trade Unions and members of Jongui Party, speakers said that the cut-down in working hours is the wish of the workers and other people, demanding the authorities respond to it.
