Japan's Crime Witnessed by Obliteration of Korean Flag

Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) -- The Japanese imperialists inflicted innumerable pain and misfortune upon the Korean people after reducing Korea into its colony. After fabricating the "Ulsa Five-point Treaty" in November 1905, Japan instituted the "flag of Residency-general" in a bid to obliterate the Korean flag. In this regard, Prof. and Dr. Kong Myong Song, director of the Folklore Institute under the Academy of Social Sciences of the DPRK, told KCNA: The institution of the "flag of Residency-general" was not merely for improving the image of "Resident-general in Korea", but for showing that Korea was a complete colony of Japan. The Japanese imperialists brought out the world maps with Korea blue-colored under the Japan flag to indicate that Korea was their colony. They also hoisted the "flag of Residency-general" at the "Residency-General" and printed it on vehicles, ships and others to ridicule the sovereign rights of Korea and trample down the national pride and self-confidence of the Korean people. After August 1910, the Japanese imperialists openly hoisted the Japanese flag in front of the entrance of the main building of Kyongbok Palace. During their colonial rule over Korea, the Japanese imperialists were desperately keen on totally obliterating the national consciousness of the Korean people by forcing them to "pay respect" to the Japanese flag. But the Korean people had never acknowledged the Japanese flag as their national flag, which was well evidenced by the incident of obliterating the flag of the Rising Sun, the Japanese flag, in 1930. 110 years has passed from when the Japanese imperialists occupied Korea by force of arms, but the Korean people always remember the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean nation and will force them to pay dearly for their past crimes without fail. |
