Massimiliano Ay, general secretary of the Communist Party of Switzerland, was elected chairperson of the remembrance committee.

The committee fixed a remembrance period from Dec. 1 to 18 and decided to hold political and cultural events including a remembrance meeting and a seminar on leader Kim Jong Il's works in the period to commemorate the 6th anniversary of his demise.
