S. Korea: Release of Participants in Struggle against Import of American Beef Urged

Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- Those concerned of the civic organization in south Korea, which sponsored the candlelight action against the import of American beef in 2008, called a press conference in Seoul on Nov. 29, urging the authorities to give special amnesty to the imprisoned action participants, according to the south Korean Yonhap News.

The speakers said that they should be granted special amnesty as they opposed the import of American beef posing a serious threat to the people's life and health and the de-nationalization of public sectors.
