Minju Joson Hits out at S. Korean Puppet Regime's Servile Attitude

Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the U.S. and the south Korean puppet regime held a meeting of the joint committee of SOFA. The puppet regime, in a bid to calm down the ever-growing anti-U.S. sentiments among south Koreans, asked the U.S. to make public the matters discussed at the meeting such as reparation for the crimes committed by GIs and purification of the seriously polluted U.S. military bases. However, the U.S. refused to do so. In connection with the issue of opening to public the contents of the discussion, the U.S. called for making public only information not pertaining to "military secrets." About the issue of reparation for the crimes committed by GIs, it turned down the puppet regime's proposal by stressing the need to "intensify preventive efforts and mutual cooperation." It also rejected the issue of sharing the burden for de-pollution of the U.S. forces' bases in south Korea, calling for continuing "constructive discussion." Commenting on this, Minju Joson Sunday says: The above-said fact clearly shows that the meeting of the joint committee of SOFA is little short of the disgraceful epitome between the master and his servant run through with domination and subjugation, pressure and submission. SOFA is just a document of aggression legally allowing the U.S. imperialists' military presence in south Korea and the one of disgrace mercilessly violating the dignity and interests of the south Korean people. This being a hard fact, the puppet regime is kowtowing to the U.S., touting "joint efforts for intensifying alliance." Such servile behavior is reminiscent of fools. The puppet authorities of south Korea should face up to the demand of the candlelight demonstrators for independence against the U.S. If they persist in confrontation with fellow countrymen and sycophancy toward the U.S., depending on the "alliance" with it and begging for its forces' eternal presence, they will never be able to escape a miserable end like its predecessors. |
