Construction Workers' Struggle in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 4 (KCNA) -- The confederation of construction industry composed of construction trade unions on Dec. 1 called a press conference outside the "National Assembly" building to demand the passage of an "amendment to the law on construction workers", according to the south Korean internet paper Chamsesang.

Speakers condemned the "NA" for sidestepping the "amendment", saying it is little different from a special law for ensuring the elementary life of the construction workers.

They declared that they would wage a stay-in strike outside the "NA" on Dec. 4-7 to have the amendment passed and, at the same time, conduct all forms of action including a protest visit to lawmakers and a signature-collection.
